artists residency
Audio Visual presentation and concert performance.
Materials:
Video works (colour), cathode ray tv, projectors, live audio performances in 2 channel stereo, roto-molded plastic stools, computer assistance.
Culminating in two separate live events embedded in the fabric of Old Town Songkhla.
Video works generated from footage taken during the period of 3 weeks in and surrounding the lagoon complex of Songkhla. Those were edited, treated and finally presented, further they were complimented with location recordings made in the area along Thailand’s largest natural lake found at the penninsula to the Gulf of Thailand.
Ohm TV Repair Shop:
Presentation of alpha-alpha’s ‘Cathode cast™’ digital video works broadcast on cathode ray televisions, in combination with live sound performance.
Trok Singha Alleyway, Nakhon Nok Road:
The audio visual performance was a thoughtful provocation towards the meaning of ‘public’ place and what can be presented in such a territory – it was certainly not private. What became at first glance (for some, not all) a confrontation in an alleyway evolved into both ‘active’ and ‘passive’ listening and observing. Passersby sat down and listened (some for longer, some shorter), and at times walked on by. It made for an intervention and situation much like a real-time installative performance not in a gallery or private space, but outside within the Town amongst locals and tourists, a memorable interruption.
